Dr. Hunter Watson

Dr. Hunter Watson completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS) in Richmond, Virginia, where he honed his skills in a full-scope practice at a high-volume Level I Trauma Center. During his final year, he served as Chief Resident, leading his team with a commitment to excellence in patient care. Dr. Watson is passionate about all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, including safe outpatient anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, joint replacement, facial trauma, benign pathology, complex reconstructions, wisdom teeth extractions, and dental implant rehabilitation.

Before residency, Dr. Watson graduated at the top of his class from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. His research on non-opioid pain management after third molar extraction earned him multiple awards and contributed to opioid mitigation strategies in response to the national opioid crisis. He was also inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society. Dr. Watson’s academic journey began with a BA in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Watson is happily married to his wife, Keri. Together, they share a love for fitness, staying active with weightlifting, hiking, biking, and cheering at professional and college sports games. They enjoy spontaneous, last-minute trips and are always ready for their next adventure with their cat, Aria.

Dr. Watson is dedicated to advancing patient care through ongoing education and research-driven treatment. He prioritizes evidence-based practices and continually adapts his approach to reflect the most current clinical guidelines. Dr. Watson is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) and participates annually in the AAOMS National Meeting and “Day on the Hill” in Washington, D.C., where he joins fellow surgeons, including Dr. Warren, in advocating for the profession and its patients on a national level.
